The Installation: Six People, Pre-Christmas Deadline #
Timing was tight. We had to finish before the Christmas rush, which is the biggest traffic period of the year for this venue. To hit the deadline, we had a team of six on site — that’s about double a typical installation crew for this scale of job.
The bigger challenge was LED pixel mapping. Because the bulbs were placed at arbitrary positions — not on a grid or a predetermined layout — we had to map each one precisely so the software could create coherent directional effects. The way we did it: we counted floor tiles and used that grid to calculate the exact XY position of each bulb.
It’s not a difficult process, but it requires patience. The mapping for this installation took four hours. That’s four hours of measuring, counting, and entering coordinates — one bulb at a time. The result is a precise pixel map that lets the LED lighting control software drive effects that travel smoothly from the entrance to the back of the room, exactly as intended.
