No Product Survives Its First Real Client
#

There’s an old saying in product development: no matter how well you test something, the first real client will find a problem you never thought of. We’ve seen it happen. And honestly — it’s usually true.

That’s part of why we decided to be our own first client.

We don’t just build LED controllers and software. We use them in real installations. And one day, while working through the same frustrations over and over on job sites, we started writing down everything that was broken about the existing options for rental LED pixel setups. That list turned into ProfiLED — a modular LED bar system designed from scratch to solve the most common headaches in professional LED pixel work.

What ProfiLED Was Built to Fix
#

Most LED pixel installations for events are painful in predictable ways. ProfiLED targets each one directly:

No soldering. Every connection uses quick-lock connectors that carry both signal and power at the same time. Plug in, lock, done. No heat gun, no exposed wires, no guessing which wire is which.

No power calculations. You can run up to 20 meters of LED pixel bars from a single controller output without doing any math. The system is designed so it just works.

Easy mounting. Each bar has built-in attachment points so you can rig them into any shape — straight lines, curves, grids, whatever the stage design calls for. This is what a true plug and play LED system looks like in practice.

Every control standard supported. DMX, Art-Net, standalone auto-play, and even a mobile app. Whether your lighting tech runs a console or a phone, ProfiLED works with it. The DMX LED controller and Art-Net LED controller modes are both built in.

Outdoor-ready. Rain happens. ProfiLED is built to handle it. You can use these bars outside without any additional weatherproofing and they’ll keep running.

We Built Our Own Stage to Test It
#

Before handing ProfiLED off to any client, we set up a real-world test on our own property. We built a small stage in our backyard and installed about 100 meters of ProfiLED bars on it — a proper LED pixel stage design with real rigging, real cabling, and real control.

The test did what tests are supposed to do: it found problems. We caught a few firmware issues in the controllers and fixed them before anyone else had to deal with them. That’s exactly the point of running your own installation before shipping a product.

Once the stage was up and working, we put it to use. We filmed promo content there for Tron Event Agency, including sequences featuring our LED dancers. If you watch the video, that’s where those performance shots come from.

The Right Way to Ship a Product
#

The honest truth is that no product comes out of development fully finished. You can simulate, test, and prototype all you want — but real-world use always reveals something. The only way to know your system actually works for event stage LED lighting is to use it yourself, under real conditions, before your clients do.

Building our own stage wasn’t just a marketing exercise. It made ProfiLED a better product. And we’d do it again.

Frequently Asked Questions
#

How do you set up LED bars for a rental event stage?

With a modular system like ProfiLED, setup is straightforward. Each bar has built-in mounting points so you can rig them in any configuration. Quick-lock connectors carry both power and signal, so you run one cable between bars rather than separate data and power lines. A single controller can drive up to 20 meters of bars, which keeps your cabling simple.

How do you daisy-chain LED pixel bars on a stage?

ProfiLED bars connect in series — output of one bar goes to the input of the next. Signal and power pass through the same connector, so you don’t need a separate power injection point at every bar. Up to 20 meters can run off one controller output before you need to add another feed.

How many power supplies do I need for a large LED installation?

With a well-designed modular LED bar system, you don’t need to calculate this per-bar. ProfiLED is engineered so one controller handles up to 20 meters of bars without voltage drop issues. For larger installations, you divide the layout into 20-meter zones, each with its own controller. No spreadsheet required.

How do you control LED pixel bars without a computer on stage?

ProfiLED supports standalone auto-play mode — animations are stored in the controller and play back without any connected computer or console. You can also control it via DMX from a lighting desk, Art-Net from a media server, or even from a mobile app. The system covers all the common scenarios at once.

Are LED pixel bars safe to use outdoors at events?

ProfiLED bars are built for outdoor use and can handle rain without any additional weatherproofing. For permanent outdoor installations, IP67-rated addressable LED strips are the standard choice. For event rental use, having a bar system that’s inherently weatherproof removes a whole category of risk from outdoor show production.

Why is it important to test an LED product on a real installation before selling it?

Simulated tests and lab bench testing can only catch so much. Real installations introduce variables — cable runs, temperature changes, power fluctuations, physical stress on connectors — that bench testing doesn’t replicate. In our ProfiLED development, building a full 100-meter test stage revealed firmware bugs that weren’t visible any other way. Shipping a product before that kind of real-world validation means your customers find the bugs instead of you.
