How It Works Technically #
The hardware side is almost embarrassingly simple. The button is a DMX controller — one button, one signal. When pressed, it sends a DMX512 trigger to LED Strip Studio software running on the bar’s machine.
Inside LED Strip Studio, there is one dedicated roulette scene. When the DMX trigger fires, the scene launches. It runs the LED pixel animation — lights sweeping across the bottles, building speed, then slowing down — and randomly selects which bottle to stop on. The landing point changes every time. The client also added a custom sound effect that plays during the selection, which turned out to be a big part of what makes the moment fun.
