Wooden panels and LED lights in a modern living room

Project Quick Facts

Wood paneling or wood panels are a popular interior design choice. That’s why we decided to add something extra. LED strips between the wood panels can play various animations, react to sound, or create ambient lighting—all with the help of LED Strip Studio software.

To showcase this concept, we chose a local expo here in Bratislava. Coneco is an event focused on modern trends in home design. We decided to demonstrate and build what we think is a beautiful living room with several great features.

Expo Booth
#

The space we worked with was quite small, only 2 x 4 meters. We wanted to showcase the LED Strip Studio software, its grabber feature, and our special LED bulbs.

We chose wood because it instantly adds warmth to any space you’re in. Of course, you can’t use a classic aluminum truss system. So we decided to build the booth ourselves. From wood, which serves as a frame for our wooden panels, to which we attached cladding and profiles.

Wood Cladding and LED Lights
#

We drew inspiration from many images we saw online. The possibilities were endless, but we were looking for wood cladding that would be the same width and height as our aluminum profiles. Then we came up with a geometric design, laid everything out, and started cutting.

This was actually a very simple process. Whenever we talk to customers, we emphasize that with a good plan, we can work wonders right away. By the way, if you’d like to discuss a project, schedule a consultation with us here 😉

We then screwed the cladding and profiles, along with LED strips, onto MDP boards with a smooth white finish.

LED Bulbs
#

During the planning stage, we thought about how to enclose our living room from above. Almost immediately, we decided on our special, DMX-controlled LED bulbs. We bought a lot of wire mesh used in construction and painted it black.

In total, we hung 40 bulbs and used 5 Xmas dimmers.

Shelly Switches and Controls
#

Since the bulbs work with DMX, we used Shelly switches to control the effects. They work great and are reasonably priced. We also used our DMX/TRX board to switch between the effects playing behind the TV on our main wall.
