Project Quick Facts
Storefront displays are designed to attract customers. A boring, static display is unlikely to catch anyone’s attention. That’s why interesting lighting—or, even better, constantly changing colors—will catch the eye of people who might buy from you.

Let’s be honest, a display like this won’t attract customers anymore
According to research, you have 3 seconds to capture your customer’s attention. Retailers therefore use various methods to liven up their storefronts. And one way to do this is by standing out through lighting.
Flashing Storefronts #
Of course, it’s easy to overdo it. It often happens that a storefront just flashes different colors, which doesn’t align with the European perception of what’s tasteful.
That’s why it’s better for the lighting to complement the merchandise on display, while also meeting our standards of good taste. For luxury fashion brands, for example, you’ll likely use only cool white light so it doesn’t alter the colors of the merchandise. Conversely, for electronics or gaming stores, it’s appropriate to use something more dynamic.
Which color is the most popular in the world? #
It stands to reason that if your store is designed using the colors people like best, it will attract more customer attention. According to a University of Maryland study of a sample of 2,000 people, the most popular colors are blue and purple (source: https://www.livescience.com/34105-favorite-colors.html). Here is the breakdown of color popularity by gender:

Of course, there are types of stores where blue and purple don’t work, so this chart should be taken only as a guide. But it’s safe to assume that you’ll hold a customer’s attention longer by using appropriately set LED lights in colors that people like.
LED walls in store windows #
In recent years, it has become common to see LED walls and LED panels used in store windows. This offers the following advantages:
· The ability to quickly change the displayed merchandise
· Easy adjustment of featured promotions throughout the year
· The ability to display animated videos (motion attracts the human eye much more than static images)
· Relatively easy to install and modify as needed
However, if we were to express our personal opinion—not yet supported by any study—LED walls are really just large televisions, to which people have already developed “banner” blindness (similar to banner ads on websites—do you even notice them anymore?). The problem is that it’s usually just some rectangle or strip displaying an ad. And people are already immune to that. We can install them for you, but we can’t guarantee they’ll actually deliver the desired result.
Creative storefront displays #
It’s much better to come up with something new. Just having an LED wall in an arched shape makes it look more interesting.
But it’s possible to go even further. For example, this is what a store entrance that people are sure to notice might look like. Specifically, this installation increased the customer’s sales by about 25%, even though it’s a bar:
And of course, there are even more extreme options. Here’s an example of a fashion store using our LED strips and LED digital controllers in South Africa:
Why even consider eye-catching window lighting? #
An attractive storefront should be seen as a “foot in the door”—if your products aren’t good, it probably won’t help you make a sale. However, it will allow you to hold the customer’s attention longer and give you a better chance to showcase your product in a good light (literally). So if you need to attract more customers to your store, reach out to us and we’ll see if we can make your storefront more interesting.
